I have practised and taught homeopathy for 15 years within the NHS, for charitable organisations and now in private practice. In 1997 I set up the Healthy Living Centre in Islington, London, a clinic that offers a wide range of complementary and alternative therapies.

In 1998 we founded the Centre for Homeopathic Education. We were motivated by what we felt was a lack of a complete homeopathic training course, and wanted to establish a college that offered its students an in-depth understanding of both Classical and Practical homeopathy.

I feel that the provision of a combined Licentiate and BSc (Hons) in Homeopathy programme has created a benchmark for homeopathic education in the UK. By offering a homeopathic training at a higher education level we can produce graduates who not only thrive in practice but will be equipped to lead their profession. Homeopathy now stands alongside all the other major complementary therapies – osteopathy, acupuncture and herbal medicine – in offering degree programmes.

My own career began with a degree in Botany at the University of London. Shortly after I began to travel extensively and first encountered alternative medicine in Australia. On my return to England I took a course in herbal medicine, which in 1985 led me to study my passion-homeopathy.

After qualifying as a homeopath I practised for five years gaining experience with patients which naturally progressed into teaching homeopathy. During my early days of teaching I observed a division in homeopathic education between the Classical and Practical approaches to homeopathy. This gave me the inspiration to found the Centre for Homeopathic Education and integrate these two styles of homeopathy, to create a more rounded practitioner.

The Centre for Homeopathic Education was founded in 1998 and was well received by the profession it led many practitioners to recommend the college as an excellent place to study homeopathy. Quite quickly CHE became the largest homeopathic college in the UK. I have now been practising homeopathy for 21 years and have seen more and more people benefit from this system of medicine. In the not too distant future I'd like to see homeopathy become fully integrated into mainstream healthcare to give patients real choice in their treatment.
